History Group - Civil War

Our history group went to New Market a few weeks ago to kick off our study of the Civil War. This day we got together and the students shared something of what they learned. J. was curious about Civil War period clothes and showed us a wedding party made of paper dolls.

B. made a flag of the California 100 and learned about the volunteers who returned east to fight with a Massachusetts company for the Union Army.

There were about twelve different people presenting things including solving a message in morse code, how the price of food changed from the beginning of the war to the end, major battles, dolls of the era and more. It is always fun to see what the kids learn from each other and teach each other.
